Puberty is the time in your life when your pubic hairs first appear and when the hormones start acting up.

We get rebellious, our breasts start increasing, we get our first period and we start feeling like women, right?

We like the breast growing part of course, the pubic hair part not so much. But our breasts don’t always live up our expectations while the pubic hair can even exceed them. If only it could be the other way around, we couldn’t be happier.

That’s why we try to correct what Mother Nature did wrong, we try to increase our breasts and eliminate the pubes.

7-REASONS-WHY-YOU-MIGHT-WANT-TO-LEAVE-YOUR-PUBES-THE-HELL-ALONE

There are different styles and trends when it comes to pubic hair but we almost all of us want to escape the natural look. Some like them clean shaven, Brazilian waxed, stubble and some even rock the au-naturel look, it’s a matter of preferences and personal style.

If you’re among the not-so-natural types you might want to read what we have prepared for you, it may inspire you cancel the waxing appointment, throw away the razor and change your style completely.

1. If you’re overweight waxing can cause some serious complications!

Studies have shown that 80% of women have experienced complication after pubic hair removal at least once in their life. The study examined 333 women aged 16-40 and the results revealed that it’s two times more likely for overweight women to experience some kind of problem after pubic hair removal, and the risk is three times higher after total hair removal.

     2. Going completely bare can cause viral infections!

The LA Times, two French dermatologists and a global health researcher from Emory University hinted that the trend of completely removing pubic hair could be the main reason of increased cases of sexually transmitted molluscum cantagiosum virus over the last decade.

  1. If you have an autoimmune disease your risk of catching one is higher!

Pubic hair removal is all the rage recently, but it may come at a high price for some people. The Oxford Journals report that if you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease there is a higher chance of contracting an infection after waxing. They mention a case of a young Australian woman who hadn’t properly treated Diabetes 1 and contracted Streptococcus Pyogenes and the Herpes Simplex Virus after complications from a Brazilian wax.

  1. Science says: Don’t remove your pubic hair unless you want an STI!

Some sources say that having sex right after waxing or shaving your pubes (this goes for men and women alike) increases the chances of developing an STI. That’s why the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery advises you not to have sex immediately after shaving or waxing. Leave one day for everything to return to normal.

  1. Be careful not to burn your skin!

Have you ever waxed your intimate parts before? You probably have, which means that you know how hot it can get, and it can even burn your skin. You know how much it hurts when you pull off those stubborn hairs out? Imagine if you burned yourself beforehand? It could get pretty nasty pretty soon, so be extra careful.

  1. You can actually get your skin ripped off, it’s not a myth!

Yes, this can really happen to you and especially if you’re suffering from eczema or psoriasis, or you’re on blood thinners. The unfortunate cases of “skin lifting” are not limited to people suffering from skin conditions, it can happen to anyone, so take this into consideration next time you try to remove your pubes!

  1. Shaving can cause the big itch

If you’ve ever shaved your northern regions you know what I’m talking about. It’s not just dry shaving which can cause that burning and itching sensation. Shaving in warm water with a load of lotion can leave your skin irritated and itchy. This is mostly due to folliculitis– when recently shaved hair re-grows out of the follicle and curl back around.

The moral lesson of this article is DON’T SHAVE OR WAX YOUR PUBIC HAIR! Mother Nature put those hairs there for a reason, removing them could cause more harm than good. Contracting an STI or ripping your skin off won’t be pretty, trust us!
